SCC is a proud member of the COSILoveYou movement in Colorado Springs. The vision of COSILoveYou is to unite and ignite the local Church to love our city. Every October, COSILoveYou mobilizes thousands of volunteers for CityServe Day, a no-strings-attached day of service. The motivation is simple – when a city prospers, so do its people. Join thousands of people from our city to help beautify, rebuild, and restore special places in Colorado Springs. Individuals from different communities serve alongside one another at public schools, parks, local businesses, and non-profit organizations in an effort to meet immediate needs in our city.

This year, CityServe Day is Saturday, October 5. SCC has coordinated the following volunteer opportunities:

  • Mary's Home - Dream Centers, 9am - 12pm OR 1-4pm: Dreams Centers provides health and hope for people working to rebuild their dreams. They are committed to ending generational poverty and family homelessness in the Pikes Peak Region. Dream Centers are made possible through the people leveraging their resources and serving to see this city flourish. They collaborate, provide holistic care, and balance their motives of compassion and justice in order that broken lives may be restored to wholeness.

    • What to expect: At this project, volunteers will garden, help with landscape clean up, fence staining and/or neighborhood clean up.

    • Age Requirement: All ages welcome!

    • What to bring: Water, shovels, rakes, gloves, wheelbarrows, large trash bags, and a truck if you have one

    • What to wear: Clothes and shoes that can get paint on them or get dirty, closed-toed shoes

  • Reigning Hope, 9am-3pm, come & go as needed: Reigning Hope is a farm clinic providing life-changing therapies that create positive cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social growth while also providing support and programs for their family and caregivers. Their goal is that participants will take away a renewed sense of personal significance and validation for the important role they play. The Farm Clinic provides a welcoming, relaxing and supportive country environment!

    • What to expect: At this project, volunteers will assist with winter clean-up, do some painting, fence fixing and tree trimming. They will provide snacks and drinks onsite.

    • Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 8+

    • What to bring: Please bring a sack lunch, work gloves, rakes, hedge clippers

    • What to wear: Work clothes and closed-toed shoes

  • Care & Share, 1-3:30pm: At Care and Share Food Bank, they believe that no one should go hungry. Every day, they provide food to their partner food pantries and meal sites across Southern Colorado to serve their neighbors in need because well-fed communities are better for us all. Care and Share exists to ensure that the one in eight Southern Coloradans at risk of hunger have access to enough healthy and nutritious food to thrive. They know that children without adequate access to food cannot develop successfully, families cannot plan for their future, and seniors find it more difficult to remain independent.

    • What to expect: At this project, volunteers will have the opportunity to sort and pack food.

    • Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 5+

    • What to bring: Please bring water.

    • What to wear: Sleeved shirt, no heavily loose pants and closed-toed shoes that have a back.
