Church membership is a spiritual connection among believers built on relationships. We are charged to connect with each other. Church membership is different; it grows out of a deep sense of God’s calling and your personal commitment to a body of believers. We encourage you to pray about your next step in belonging to Springs Community Church.

Reasons for Membership

Biblical: Christ is committed to the church. “…Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” Ephesians 5:25

Cultural: It is an antidote to our society. We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything. This attitude has produced “consumer religion.” Becoming a member is an unselfish decision.

Practical: It defines who can be counted on. Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration. Membership identifies our family.

Personal: It produces spiritual growth and builds character. The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other in a Biblical community for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.

Qualifications for Membership

  1. A personal commitment of faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. Scriptural baptism as a testimony of salvation. (This can be done on the same Sunday a member is introduced to the congregation.)
  3. A signed membership covenant.
  4. Public introduction to other members of the church family.

Covenant Relationship

As a part of the membership process, we discuss the importance of a covenant relationship. This covenant is a two-way commitment.

The covenant calls members:

  1. To contribute to the spiritual maturity of our church.
  2. To protect the spiritual unity of our church.
  3. To share in the spiritual impact of our church.

The covenant calls SCC leaders:

  1. To provide you opportunities for spiritual growth in the knowledge of and obedience to the Word of God; access to Small Groups; and opportunities
for expressions of leadership. Colossians 1:3-12, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15, Acts 2:42-47
  2. To pray with you, for you and your loved ones. Philippians 1:3-6, Romans 1:8-10, James 5:13-16
  3. To spiritually nurture your relationship with Christ and with one another by lovingly caring for you and seeking your growth in Christ. Acts 20:28, 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
  4. To provide spiritual leadership by appointing pastors and electing elders who meet the criteria assigned to these leadership roles in the
    Scriptures. I Timothy 3:1-11, Titus 1:5-9
  5. To be godly examples and join you in fulfilling our responsibilities as church members. I Peter 5:1-3, Ephesians 5:1-2

Springs Community Church…a Kingdom Church

Our Vision – A world in which people are reconciled to God, renewed in their relationships, and restored in every aspect of their lives.

Our Mission – Joining the Father in the restoration of all things through the sacrifice of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Membership Class Schedule

Becoming a partner in Kingdom mission or membership occurs at the end of a four-session process which will happen as weekly meetings. Following the four meetings, you will be introduced to the congregation & affirm the covenant you have made. Call the church office for further information about the specific schedule and dates for our next class. Preregistration is highly appreciated if you desire childcare. We will need to know the ages of the children you will be bringing to the meetings.
