Caring Ministry
Pastoral Care exists to demonstrate the message of God’s love, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to all people experiencing difficulty or crisis, through
encouragement, support, prayer and Christian love.
Our Pastoral Care Team acts as an extension of Christ’s ministry as He lived, suffered, ministered,
and died for the salvation of His sheep.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. -Mark 10:45
pastoral care
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord. -James 5:14
Pastoral Care is a lay ministry that confidentially cares for the body of Christ through one-on-one care in life’s difficulties. This is a way to encourage and support other members of SCC through a short-term difficulty. If you are suffering through a personal crisis, our Pastoral Care Team members are Christian caregivers who are there to walk beside you.
practical care
For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. -2 Corinthians 1:5
Practical Care Ministry has a heart for people who are experiencing the stress of life’s challenges such as hospitalization, pregnancy, new baby, family illness, etc. This ministry provides meals, rides, housecleaning, and other assistance to help them through their time of crisis. SCC’s Practical Care Ministry demonstrates Jesus’ love in a very comforting way.
mentoring
...to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. -Ephesians 3:19
“Mentoring is the art of Christian listening carried out in a context of a one-on-one or small group trusting relationship.” Trusting relationships are developed based on the needs and desires of the individual. The mentor helps the individual identify Christ-centered goals and serves as an accountability partner.
